2018 MAMA red carpet in Hong Kong

DIRECT FROM HONG KONG: The third and final night of the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) took place once again at Hong Kong’s Asia-World Expo, which has hosted the annual ceremony every year since 2013, last night (Dec 14). It was also held in South Korea and Japan earlier this week.

As always, the event was a massive, star-studded affair, with this year’s glittering list of attendees including not just some of the hottest names in K-pop (such as BTS, Wanna One, GOT7, TWICE and more), but also American music icon Janet Jackson (yes, that Janet Jackson), Chinese actress Angelababy, and Singapore’s very own pride and joy, singer JJ Lin.

The red carpet commenced about two hours before the actual main show, and while we wish we had more activity to witness and report on, it was a very quick and straightforward affair (but then again, for things like this, it's always better to let the pictures do the talking, right?). After the artistes emerged from their respective vehicles outside, they did a brief walk before entering a large hall, posing for photographs (braving non-stop flashes with a finesse that we will never understand), and then going on stage for a quick Q&A session, which consisted mostly of them gushing about how happy they were to be there.

Something a little extra special did happen when BTS were awarded an “I Seoul U” appreciation plaque - just one of the many accolades (we've lost count, to be honest) bestowed upon the super-group during this entire MAMA week, and even just within the Hong Kong show itself.

But when it comes to slaying it on the red carpet, hey, pretty much everyone deserves a trophy in our books.
