‘S’pore’s Biggest XXL Curry Bomb’ Seller Opens Dine-In Cafe, Serves Braised Pork Curry Rice
Since starting her home-based business Yummy Tummy Bakes in 2021, Tok Su Wen has grown from strength to strength.
The 41-year-old used to be a sales rep at Irish Duck Company, the sole distributor of premium Silver Hill Farm ducks in Singapore, before setting up her own F&B gig.
Her home-based operations quickly took off due to her unique offering: XXL-sized “curry bombs”, which are basically gigantic homemade buns stuffed with curry in four flavour options like Chicken, Mutton, Vegetable and Japanese Curry.

Family of curry hawkers
The fact that Su Wen is selling curry buns is not random. Her family — which comprises her parents and two brothers before Mrs Tok passed away in 2019 — still runs hawker stall Keat Hong Curry Rice at Choa Chu Kang, which has an outlet at Jurong West Food Centre.

Su Wen’s own biz, with her dad helping to cook the curry at her four-room flat, did well enough for her to consider moving to a bigger kitchen. Last July, she opened a takeaway shop at Newest mall in Clementi, where she bakes and sells her curry bombs along with Mao Shan Wang durian puffs and Teochew mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Opens dine-in cafe
And now, a year on, Su Wen is expanding her operations again. Earlier this month, she opened a dine-in cafe called Boss Tofu, which she says serves yong tau foo as “add-on food” (from $6.50 a bowl).
She shares: “Initially we wanted to sell just yong tau too, that’s why our shop name is called Boss Tofu. But the shop unit is quite big, so we don’t think we can sustain just selling yong tau foo. So we decided to do a cafeteria with stalls for yong utau foo, curry rice, curry buns and some desserts like durian puffs, choux pastries and cakes.”
“So the previous unit I have for curry bombs will be used for baking only. Once baked, I’ll bring over the curry bombs to the new unit for dine-in,” she tells 8days.sg.
This will make it easier for customers to enjoy her supersized curry buns on the spot with a group. “Last time we only did online orders and self-collection. No dine-in was allowed, but now we have it,” she chirps.
Curry rice options all at $7.50 a plate
She self-deprecating shares that she has “no menu”, just three types of curry rice: Curry Chicken Drumstick Rice, Pork Cutlet Rice and Braised Pork Curry Rice.
Each plate is priced at a flat $7.50. “If you want a drink and soup, top up $1.40,” says Su Wen.
