It’s April 1 today. And IYKYK what day it is, the internet was buzzing with many F&B brands offering new menu items and promotions that you will only see in a fever dream... or April Fool's Day.
One of them is popular Japanese DIY yakiniku chain Yakiniku Like, which launched a ‘Small Eater Set’ that’s only ‘available’ today (wink wink).

The $4.10 set was touted as being “perfectly portioned for those who crave huge flavours with a tiny appetite”.
According to Yakiniku Like’s social media post, the set comes with “one piece of mouthwatering Karubi (Japanese short rib), XXS Japanese rice, XXS seaweed soup and XXS kimchi".
The post added that a “dining time limit of 14 minutes applies”.

Shrinkflation getting real
The funny part of the prank to us was the accompanying images, which showed a Yakiniku Like staff serving a crestfallen-looking customer her small eater set, which has precisely one bite of each meal component carefully plated like fine-dining.

Portion control going out of control
But the funniest part has got to be netizens’ savage reactions to the post, with one Facebook user pointing out: “That’s not enough for my chihuahua.”
Meanwhile, another netizen took the opportunity to slip in a complaint: “Your big eater set already feels like small eater to me.” The comment also got the most number of likes (19), so we guess sometimes you roast and sometimes you just get roasted.
