We Were Right — Shake Shack Is Definitely Opening In Singapore
We first broke the news of its rumoured opening back in March.

Our calculations were correct. You no longer have to grab a flight to Hong Kong, or worse, New York, for your fill of a Shack burger. In March, we were the first to report that we heard from an F&B industry insider that the famous burger chain from the Big Apple is rumoured to have awarded licensing rights to Korean F&B conglomerate SPC Group, who’s behind bakery café chain Paris Baguette, to set up Shake Shack in Singapore. After all, the burger brand has also partnered SPC to open Shake Shack outlets in Korea — where Paris Baguette bakes the chain’s pillowy potato flour burger buns, which Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer told us exclusively “are as good as the ones in New York”. This morning, we received a press release from the brand confirming: "For years we’ve been looking for the right opportunity to enter the Singaporean market given its regional importance, and we’re thrilled to have found the right strategic partner and an ideal launch location." It also adds: "Plans are now underway for Shake Shack and partner SPC Group to launch the first Shack in Singapore in 2019", at Jewel Changi.

As we mentioned in our previous story, the Shack is indeed partnering with SPC Group, "a leading global food company based in South Korea with 30 brands and over 6,000 stores worldwide including seven Shake Shack locations in the greater Seoul area".

Jewel Changi
The press release says "our flagship site will be in the stunning Jewel Changi Airport, home to more than 2,000 trees, harkening back to Shake Shack’s birthplace in NYC’s Madison Square Park.” The soon-to-be-opened Jewel will boast more than 280 shops across seven storeys. The mixed-use development by the Changi Airport Group cost S$1.7 billion to build.

What's on the menu?
Shake Shack says it will work with local purveyors and producers to create a one-of-a-kind Shack for Singaporean diners. But fret not, the menu will include the Shack's well-loved old faves like the ShackBurger, Shack-cago Dog (pictured above), classic crinkle-cut fries, beer, wine and frozen custard ice cream.
