‘Waffle Aunty’ Sells Viral Smiling Egglettes From Home, Has Mobile Waffle Station For Parties

She calls her home-based business Waffle Aunty. Other than the smiling egglettes, Cynthia also offers live waffle station services that customers can engage for their private parties or corporate events. “Basically anywhere you would like me to be at, as long as there’s access to a power point, I’ll be able to serve my waffles,” she tells 8days.sg.
“Back then I had to take a temporary career break to look after my baby who had a skull fracture from a fall. My friends’ kids always asked their mums for ‘Waffle Aunty’, so I decided to adopt it as my biz name and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s a great conversation starter when I show up for bookings,” laughs Cynthia.
Live waffle station
She has set up her live waffle station at kids’ birthday parties too. Cynthia says: “Charges start from $220 for a basic one-hour booking, which serves up to 80 mini waffles and a variety of toppings.”
Customers can opt for full-sized waffles for the same fee. “But the quantity made will be lesser. They can request for it to be cut [into pieces] or eat a whole waffle,” she explains.
Smiling Egglettes
She got the idea to add smiling egglettes to her menu after spotting them overseas. “I thought it was too cute and I needed one for myself. So I purchased the equipment and started experimenting with making my own egglette recipe,” says Cynthia, who uses her own proprietary batter for waffles. It includes her signature vanilla flavour, and “13 other flavours, all made from scratch”.
The nian gao and hae bee hiam fillings are also homemade. Customers can place their orders by messaging Cynthia via WhatsApp or Waffle Aunty’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
