Thai Hot Guys Restaurant In Bangkok Shuttering, Hunks Say They Were ‘Banned In S’pore’ As They’re ‘Illegal’
It’s goodbye for now, but not forever. The studs — last denied entry into S’pore in May 2024 — are looking for a new location for their risqué Bangkok eatery, Staneemeehoi.
The scantily-clad ‘Thai hot guys’ are saying goodbye to their iconic Hua Mum Market restaurant in Bangkok — viral seafood joint Staneemeehoi will serve its last customer on 31 July 2025, after more than nine years in business there.
No part of this story or photos can be reproduced without permission from 8days.sg.In an Instagram post dated 2 July, the restaurant broke the news: “Dear valued customers, we would like to inform you that our restaurant will continue to operate at this location until 31 July 2025.” It continues, “As our lease agreement with Hua Mum Market has come to an end, we will need to relocate to a new location.”
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support over the past 9 years and 4 months.”
8days.sg reached out to Staneemeehoi co-founder Dee, who told us that they are still in the midst of looking for a new location: “We are trying to find a new place. We have not found it yet.”
A tourist attraction
The seafood restaurant became a tourist attraction for its hunky, flamboyant male dancers dressed in gender-bending skimpy outfits like crop tops, silky pyjamas and short skirts. Customers came from around the world to watch the buff dancers gyrate provocatively while interacting closely with diners.
Thai hunks attracted large crowds in Singapore
The entertainers — often dubbed the “Thai hunks” — made their Singapore debut in August 2023 through a collaboration with local barbecue eatery Mr Mookata at Bugis. Back then, the men attracted huge crowds over a few days of performances at the Bugis eatery.
Following this success, the hunks partnered with Mr Mookata again for their new outlet, Mr Mookata Plus, located along Tanglin Road, Phoenix Park, in May 2024.
The new restaurant aimed to recreate the Staneemeehoi experience from Bangkok by bringing together both the original Thai hunks and a local lineup of Singaporean hunks.
Denied entry into Singapore in 2024
The main Thai hunks — ex-models and ripped co-owners Dee and Wow, plus Top and Per — were set to appear alongside over 10 Singaporean hunks during Mr Mookata Plus’ grand opening, but their plans were unexpectedly interrupted.
The four beefcakes were denied entry into Singapore just one day before the restaurant’s grand opening on 3 May 2024.
“We are ‘illegal’”
8days.sg asked Dee if the four of them were banned from entering Singapore. “Yes, we were banned. We do not know why,” replies the hottie over WhatsApp. “We think we were promoted too much on social media the last time we came to Singapore [to market] Mr Mookata. So Singapore’s immigration did not allow us entry, because we are [seen as] ‘illegal’. There might have been a mistake with our work permits,” he shares.

Mr Mookata Plus in Tanglin closed down after a year
Mr Mookata Plus in Tanglin ceased operations earlier this year. Its listed phone number is no longer in service, and the space appears to have been taken over by a Chinese restaurant called Daniu Chicken Farm.
Dee and Wow told 8days.sg last year that they had a minor share in the Tanglin eatery.
Even more surprising, Mr Mookata’s flagship branch on Liang Seah Street in Bugis appears to be permanently closed too, at least according to a search on Google. 8days.sg’s calls to the restaurant’s listed phone number and their manager remain unanswered.
Staneemeehoi’s last day of operation at Hua Mum Market on 31 July
For now, customers can continue visiting Staneemeehoi in Bangkok until 31 July 2025. The seafood restaurant encourages fans to stay tuned to their social media account for updates on their impending move.
