Tokyo Sushi Joint Sushidan Opening Second Outlet At Parkway Parade With Fab Uni Deal
Easties will soon have another affordable sushi spot to add to their makan list. Tokyo-born sushi restaurant Sushidan is opening its second Singapore outlet at Parkway Parade on Sept 5.
Sushidan was founded by Japanese sushi master Hiroyuki Sato, 47, who is also behind acclaimed high-end sushi restaurant Hakkoku in Ginza, Tokyo.
The casual restaurant specialises in Edomae sushi, which is essentially Tokyo-style sushi that uses preservation techniques like marinating and ageing to draw out deeper flavours from the fish.
Its Raffles City outlet is open throughout the day, but still draws queues constantly. According to the brand’s PR rep, diners typically wait 30 to 45 minutes during peak lunch hours, with the wait stretching to between 45 minutes and an hour at dinnertime.
Like its Raffles City counterpart, the new branch will offer à la carte sushi from $1.99, sashimi from $2.99 and omakase sets starting from $19.90.

Smaller 35-seat outlet
The 35-seater at Parkway Parade will be more compact than Sushidan’s 60-seat Raffles City restaurant. It will be located on the first floor of the mall’s newly renovated wing, in an area that previously housed McDonald’s.
It will serve the brand’s existing selection of à la carte sushi, sashimi and omakase sets. Starting from $19.90, the omakase sets feature around three to six pieces of sushi or handrolls, accompanied by three to six side dishes.
Unlike the Raffles City branch, however, the new outlet will not have a hidden omakase bar in a separate room, the brand’s rep confirms with 8days.sg.
The chain made its overseas debut at Raffles City in collaboration with the Singapore franchise owner of Pizza Studio Tamaki and Yappari Steak.
A uni-que opening deal
Uni fans may want to visit during the restaurant’s opening month.
From Sept 5 to 30, customers who order any omakase course can add on 30g of Hokkaido Murasaki uni served with toasted seaweed for $18.80 (usual price $38.80).
The uni variety may rotate depending on seasonality and availability. This deal is exclusive to the Parkway Parade branch and available while stocks last.
Affordable offshoot of fancy Ginza sushi-ya
Chef Sato first gained recognition as the head chef of Sushi Tokami in Tokyo, which earned a Michelin star in 2014, less than a year after opening.
He later struck out on his own and opened Hakkoku in Ginza in 2018, before launching the more casual and family-friendly Sushidan in Shibuya two years later.
Despite their lower prices and smaller selection of premium cuts, Sushidan’s Singapore outlets use the same red vinegar blend as Hakkoku for their sushi rice, made with vinegars from Kyoto and Tokyo. Most of their seafood is sourced from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market, while their salmon is flown in from Norway.
