Japanese Restaurant Offers Spicy Ramen With A Whole Soft Serve Cone

It’s a well-known food hack that combining McDonald’s French fries with its vanilla soft serve creates an unusual, but delicious, sweet-savoury flavour combination. Other offbeat food combos exist too, like durian fish soup, and… spicy ramen with a whole soft serve ice cream cone plopped into the soup.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), the limited-edition ramen is available only in Osaka till March 2022. It’s offered by a ramen joint called Franken, which is aptly named after the famed Gothic novel Frankenstein.
There’s even seaweed sprinkled on the soft serve
A photo posted on Franken’s Instagram account shows what’s apparently an entire chocolate and vanilla soft serve sprinkled with seaweed on top of a bowl of bright red spicy miso ramen soup. It also comes with a ramen egg, beansprouts and chashu.
The restaurant claims it’s not monstrous
Franken’s IG caption earnestly describes the “sweet and spicy” miso ramen with ice cream as a pairing that “goes well together”. It adds that “the spiciness of the ramen makes your stomach tense, but the soft ice cream has a gentle sweetness, and you can enjoy a unique flavour harmony”.
The caption also thanks its customers for their “good reviews”, which means that this creation could possibly be… delish. According to netizens’ posts, one customer who tried it claimed that the miso ramen and soft serve “go together mysteriously well” and “it was so delicious that you will understand once you eat it”. Whoa.
