Clarke Quay’s Seafood Paradise Offering 50% Off Promo For Recently Viral Alaskan King Crab
Clarke Quay restaurant Seafood Paradise recently went viral after a Japanese tourist claimed that she was overcharged for a chilli crab dish there last month.
Junko Shinba alleged that the restaurant’s staff had recommended ordering live Alaskan king crab — famed for its gigantic size and sweet, succulent flesh — for S$30, but did not explain that the price was for 100g of crab.
The tourist’s dining party ordered a 3.5kg crustacean, and were shocked when they were later presented with a S$938 bill for their crab dish, reported AsiaOne.
Shinba, who also claimed that her party was not informed of the total weight of the crab before it was cooked and served, later asked a waiter to call the police.
The incident ended with a man from Shinba’s party paying the bill with his credit card, with the restaurant offering a S$107.40 goodwill discount equivalent to about 400g of the premium crab.
