Will his beef rice bowls rule?

Now, Keisuke-san is launching yet another new Japanese food concept — his 15th — called Beef Sukiyaki Don Keisuke. As its name suggests, the restaurant serves beef sukiyaki don. The comforting dish features fresh beef and veggies cooked sukiyaki-style, which involves simmering the ingredients in a pot filled with soy-based broth. Like Japanese hotpot, if you will.

To make beef sukiyaki donburi, the sukiyaki’d goodies are ladled over warm Japanese rice and slurped up as a one-bowl dish. Yummy. We are told by the restaurant’s rep that it is slated to open on 24 September. It is located at a condominium near 100AM mall in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood, which already houses most of Chef Keisuke’s eateries including Tonkotsu King and Tendon Ginza Itsuki.

Beef Sukiyaki Don Keisuke, #01-01 Onze @ Tanjong Pagar, 11 Kee Seng St, S089218. Open daily 11.30am-2.30pm; 5pm-10pm. www.facebook.com/keisuketokyosg.

Japanese chef Keisuke Takeda started out introducing ramen in all incarnations to Singaporeans, and later moved on to offer lesser-known gems of his home country to diners. Like Champon King, his recent concept at Tanjong Pagar which sells a Nagasaki specialty called champon, which is like Chinese-style ramen topped with meat and veggies.
