Pringles Launches Fun New Flavours Like Mala Hotpot, Fish & Chips

Miso is a must-have in most Japanese dishes and apparently Pringles spent about two years perfecting this flavour. The aged Miso ‘ramen’ crisps are seasoned with fermented soybean paste, salt and buttermilk. We find the flavours in these crisps are a lot like a good bowl of miso soup, if slightly too salty.

A collaboration with instant noodle brand Super. This Torigara Shoyu ‘Ramen’ flavoured Pringles crisps are also known as “Soy Ramen” chips, made with “chicken soy sauce and green onions”. Similar to their Soy Chicken ‘Ramen’ offering previously and somewhat mild-tasting.

Now, we travel to China. The chips are seasoned with mala powder made from Sichuan peppercorns and chillies. Tastes like authentic mala, all right — but without the numbing quality characteristic of the spices. Still quite yummy.

Another hot pot flavour that’s made with the chillies and spices that go into satay seasoning. We didn’t get to try this one, though.

With travelling to Britain now out of the question, dig into a bottle of this instead. Pringles launched its ‘Passport’ flavours last month and it includes this ‘Fish & Chips’ one. The chips are well-seasoned with salt and vinegar. There’s even a subtle hint of what seems like fish and tartar sauce too. Addictive.

This was a little disappointing as there was no real hint of cheese and beef — it didn’t help that the crisps tasted more floury than potatoey.
