Popular Kaiten Sushi Chain Sen-Ryo Opening First S’pore Outlet
But it won't be serving conveyor belt sushi here.
Even though we can’t travel to Japan for now, there’s still new Japanese eateries to try in Singapore. Like refined kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi chain sen-ryo, which is opening its first outlet here in Mar 2021. The restaurant is located at the third floor of Ion Orchard mall.
But sen-ryo will not be offering sushi on a conveyor belt for its upcoming SG branch (a wise choice in the time of Covid-19). According to its PR rep, it will instead have a "full table service" with dishes prepped a la minute. Originally from the Tochigi prefecture in Japan, the chain currently has a strong presence in Hong Kong, where it has 13 outlets. It also has outposts in Shanghai.

Sen-ryo Singapore is brought in by Maxim’s Caterers, the HK-based F&B group that also runs the Genki Sushi chain here. While it’s not ultra posh a la sushi temples like Shinji by Kanesaka, sen-ryo is slightly more upscale than the super casual Genki Sushi.
Artisanal sushi and donburis
The restaurant prides itself on serving “shokunin” (Japanese for artisanal) Edomae-style sushi topped with fresh seafood like Bafun uni. While the local prices have not been confirmed, prices in Hong Kong start from HK$22 (S$3.80) for a piece of nigiri-style Seared Salmon with Black Pepper Salad Sauce. Other than sushi, sen-ryo also offers sashimi donburis.

There are a la carte sashimi picks too, like the Supreme Assorted Sashimi Platter with fatty tuna, botan shrimps and salmon. Sen-ryo Singapore also confirms that it will be serving the following dishes:
· Otoro with Shio Koji Negitoro
· Abalone Sushi
· Tamagoyaki with Mentaiko sauce
· Ebi Tempura & Mango Spring Roll
· Grilled Crab & Crab Paste
