New Restaurant: The Garage
The Botanic Gardens welcomes an elegant two-in-one eatery. (A version of this story first appeared in Issue 1370, Jan 16, 2017.)
The Garage is split into two concepts: a ‘bistronomy’ (French-style “casual fine-dining”) restaurant called Botanico, and a cafe adorably named Bee’s Knees, serving sandwiches, pasta and pizzas. They are both housed in a 1920s Art Deco-style former garage surrounded by the Botanic Garden's lush foliage. Both eateries are run by local F&B company 1-Group, which also owns Spanish tapas bar Una at One Rochester Park. At Botanico, look forward to prettily-plated mod Western dishes such as Lamb Tartare ($20) and Chargrilled Iberico Pork Belly with Sherry Sauce ($26).
Lamb Tartare
The head chef here is Spaniard Antonio Oviedo, who has worked at three Michelin star restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Spain. He was also previously at Iggy’s in Singapore. Meanwhile, grab unfussy bites like a Truffle Carbonara Pizza ($26) and Honey Rosemarie Tart ($7) at Bee’s Knees.
