Domestic helpers are a common sight in Singapore, but have you met one who is dressed up as a French maid and will slap you… for a fee? That is the fan service offered by pop-up cafe Moe Moe Q, which has a bevy of anime-inspired Japanese maids, known as “meido” in Japan, serving diners.

How it works

The “maid culture”, as the pop-up puts it, is a “fun, fantasy-like experience where you’re treated like royalty by maids in cute costumes”.

Moe Moe Q (named after ‘moe moe kyun’, a Japanese phrase used to express cutesy excitement) is located at Orchard Cineleisure. This pop-up operates only on certain dates and occasions like Christmas and Chinese New Year, with the next session happening on Feb 22 from 3pm to 10pm.

This is because the cafe shares a space with a dance club called Fatebyhavefun, which opens from 10pm. There is a cover charge to enter the cafe — from $18 for an hour per pax for a “stool seat”, which comes with free-flow soft drinks and a “Meido Magic Drink”, which is served by a costumed meido while performing a special chant.
