Doctor Turned Hawker’s Stall King Of Laksa Among 10 New Eateries On Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 List

King Of Laksa

Kicking off the list of new entrants is King Of Laksa, opened just over a year ago by former doctor Foo Qian Yu, 44, and her husband Kotthika Xie Lin Xuan, 61.

The couple started the business without any professional F&B experience. Qian Yu previously practised medicine for around two years at Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, Malaysia.

Kotthika, who is King Of Laksa’s founder and main chef, was trained in civil engineering and previously worked in financial planning and the wellness industry.

He began developing his laksa recipe in 2021, initially serving it to the couple’s wellness-coaching participants. The decision to turn it into a business came after he cooked laksa for around 60 guests at a Vesak Day event in 2025 and was repeatedly asked where his shop was.

The couple opened their first stall on Jun 27 last year.

According to Michelin, King Of Laksa offers a lighter take on laksa with a choice of prawns or blood cockles, as well as low-carb noodles. Its coconut-rich broth is smooth and creamy without an oily layer, while shrimp paste chilli adds depth and flavour.

Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup

For over 60 years, diners have flocked to Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup for its namesake dish.

The stall double-boils its black chicken soup for at least two hours, producing a broth with pronounced herbal flavours.

Michelin notes that each serving is generous enough for two and also recommends the stall’s pork offal noodles.

Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon

Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon is known for its signature fish head noodle soup.

Diners can choose from Spanish mackerel, red grouper or regular grouper, with poached and fried fish slices also available. Michelin’s inspectors highlighted the freshness of the fish and the broth’s rich, full-bodied flavour.

Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette

Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette began as a street stall around 50 years ago and has specialised in just one dish ever since.

Its fried oyster omelette features crisp, beautifully browned edges contrasting with plump and juicy oysters. Michelin also recommends pairing it with the stall’s tangy chilli dip.

Jia Xiang

At Jia Xiang, the owner has prepared local favourites using her mother’s recipes for over 50 years.

Its standout dish is mee siam, comprising beehoon in a spicy, sweet and tangy gravy, topped with a hard-boiled egg, pork crackling and other garnishes.

Rajarani Thosai

Rajarani Thosai at Tampines makes its thosai and appam from scratch.

The thosai is offered with close to 20 fillings, including unconventional options such as crispy cereal and a combination of cheese, egg and butter. The dishes are accompanied by sambal and chutney dips.

Tian Nan Xing Minced Pork Noodle

Century-old Tian Nan Xing Minced Pork Noodle is now run by the third and fourth generations of its founding family.

The stall serves springy noodles with pork dumplings and meatballs in a rich broth made with pork bones, garlic and a generous amount of minced pork.

Xiangyee

Hunan restaurant Xiangyee sources ingredients and condiments from the mountains of its home province to maintain the dishes’ authentic flavours.

Pickled chillies, dried bamboo shoots and smoked cured meats feature heavily on its menu.

Michelin recommends the steamed marble goby with pickled chilli, as well as an assortment of preserved pork, sausage and fish steamed with fermented black beans and dried chillies.

Xiangyee is located at 101 Killiney Road, S239544.

Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu

Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu at Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre has specialised in Hakka-style yong tau foo since the 1960s.

Its tofu is stuffed with minced fish and served in a clear broth with fried anchovies. Diners can add kway teow or rice vermicelli for a more substantial meal, with stuffed bitter gourd, aubergine and fish cake among Michelin’s recommended choices.

Yi Pin Wei Braised Duck Kway Chap

The final newcomer is Yi Pin Wei Braised Duck. Kway Chap at Tampines Round Market & Food Centre.

Its signature braised duck is served alongside pork trotter and pig intestines. The kway chap set offers a selection of cuts accompanied by a mild herbal broth, while rice dishes and kway teow are also available.

Two establishments absent from this year’s list

Eminent Frog Porridge & Seafood at Geylang Lorong 19 and Soon Huat at North Bridge Road Market & Food Centre, which appeared on the 2025 Bib Gourmand list, are absent from the 2026 selection.

Meanwhile, 17 establishments have retained their Bib Gourmand distinction across all 10 editions of the Michelin Guide Singapore.

The full Michelin Guide Singapore 2026 selection, including Michelin Star recipients, will be announced on its official website on Aug 4.
