Tucked among a row of shophouses at Mosque Street in Chinatown, Tang Ren Jie Desserts looks like your typical traditional Chinese dessert shop at first glance. It has a rather plain interior decked with wooden furniture, the only splashes of colour from sporadically-placed mahjong-themed decor. But unlike your average Chinese dessert joint, the month-old 50-seater specialises in durian desserts made with Mao Shan Wang durians from Malaysian plantations owned by its young boss’s family.
