July will mark the end of Instagram-friendly cafe-bar Lou Shang’s three-year run at Prinsep Street.

Its founder Sebastian Ang announced the closure in an emotional Instagram video, describing it as a difficult decision that came after months of trying to keep the business afloat.

But while rising costs and challenging market conditions played a part, the 35-year-old believes the biggest reason for Lou Shang's downfall was himself.

"I think our biggest mistake was not building a cafe concept for cafe-goers," Sebastian tells 8days.sg.

He adds candidly after a pause: "I think I know the biggest factor that led to the closure actually. It was my leadership."
