Restaurant Lolla, Once Listed On Asia's 50 Best Restaurants List, Shutting Down

The restaurant, which serves modern Mediterranean cuisine, was ranked 43rd in Asia's Best Restaurants 2024. A year earlier, it was listed in the Michelin Guide for the first time.
Former award-winning head chef left last year
Lolla’s former head chef, Johanne Siy, who was awarded Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2023 by the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants academy, had quietly left the restaurant last year.
The restaurant’s closure announcement was made in an Instagram post on Monday (Feb 2), which read: "Although our little restaurant is serving its last plates, our hearts are so full.

"We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us over the past 14 years. Thank you for every celebration, and every meal you chose to spend with us."
Restaurant staff “sad, shocked and disappointed” about the closure
The restaurant, which opened in 2012, did not cite specific reasons for its closure.
A staff member who spoke to CNA Lifestyle over the phone said she was “sad, shocked and disappointed” about the closure. The restaurant executive, who wished to remain anonymous, said she and her colleagues were told in January to look for other jobs. They learned that the restaurant closure was confirmed a few days before the Instagram announcement. The restaurant executive also added that Lolla's staff will receive a pay cut on their final drawn salary.
“Until now, we don’t know the real reasons behind the closure,” the staff member said, particularly upset that the restaurant will be closed before Chinese New Year.
