Yang Ming Seafood Founder Opening Hong Kong-Style Seafood Restaurant, Has Retro Cinema Decor

Lo Hey Seafood, which opens its doors at One Holland Village mall on Nov 27, is a seafood restaurant offering Cantonese banquet fare. It is opened by Keith Kang, the owner of popular seafood zi char restaurant chain Yang Ming Seafood, and local restaurateur Reuben Chua.

The duo had previously set up another retro Hong Kong-style eatery called Hey Kee, though Lo Hey is inspired by the glamourous golden age of Hong Kong cinema.

The restaurant is modelled after an old-school theatre, with handwritten menus and private rooms that resemble plush lounges. Like Yang Ming Seafood’s restaurants, diners can choose their own live seafood here, which are displayed in tanks.

The menu
On the menu are Cantonese fare like Typhoon Shelter Stir-Fried Crabs, Shunde Chicken with deep-fried taro and a vinaigrette dressing, Hami Melon Chicken Soup simmered for six hours with dried conch, scallops, pork ribs and ginseng, as well as Deep-Fried Tiger Prawns tossed in a mod golden uni sauce.

The restaurant will also serve Hong Kong zi char favourites like braised fish maw and sea cucumber, soy braised duck, steamed fish with pickled chillies and stir-fried watercress sprouts with dried shrimps.
