If you've always wanted to hang out with friends, pak tor or, um, break up like K-drama stars, this is the place to do it. Dal.Komm Coffee Singapore (say "dahl-comm") has over 160 outlets in its native South Korea as well as Malaysia, and made cameos in hit Korean dramas like Descendants of the Sun and You're All Surrounded. Its moniker combines the name of its Korea-based German parent company Danal Entertainment and the German word `Willkommen' (which means welcome). (A version of this story first appeared in Issue 1368, Jan 2, 2017.)

When Dr Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye Kyo) broke up with Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong Ki)
Yep, it took place in a Dal.Komm cafe. But in Incheon, lah.

They even have a celeb ambassador
Running Man star Lee Kwang Soo casually sipping a cuppa and browsing a magazine — just like the rest of us (as if).

'Cops' also love it here
A Dal.Komm outlet was the hang-out of choice in the 2014 Korean police action drama You're All Surrounded, where the show's rookie detective characters discussed case woes over a strawberry bingsu.

Cherry Tomato Bingsu, from $10.90
What's a Korean cafe without bingsu? But this cafe offers an interesting flavour in addition to the usual suspects like mango. This metal bowl arrives heaped with fresh cherry tomatoes layered with piquant plum powder, which you scoop up to reveal finely-shaved ice infused with sweetened milk beneath. A refreshing sweet-tangy combination.

Gorgonzola Pizza, $10
This ultra-thin pizza reminds us more of a quesadilla, but we like its delicately crispy texture. It's topped with a smattering of pleasantly pungent gorgonzola. Dip the crust into the accompanying Korean honey for a savoury-sweet snack.
6of7
Strawberry Cube, $8.50
Crushed frozen strawberries (which act like ice 'cubes') and honey are added to fresh milk to chill this fun drink, which fortunately doesn't taste like artificial strawberry milk. The frozen berry bits add a nice bite, while the fresh Korean strawberry halves floating in the liquid are also delightful.

Sweet Potato Latte, $7 for hot
Finely milled Korean baked sweet potato powder is added to steamed milk for this comfortingly fragrant cuppa. Get a hot mug instead of the iced version ($7.50). It brings out the sweet potato aroma better. The cafe also has three exclusive types of Arabica bean blends roasted in Korea, like the K1 blend with chocolatey Brazilian and Costa Rica beans.
Dal.Komm Coffee #01-01/06 & #01-102/103 The Centrepoint, 176 Orchard Rd, S238843. Open daily 10am-10pm. Last orders at 9.30pm. www.dalkomm.com.sg
