Corn Dog Stall Vendor Says Daily Sales As Low As $14 At Deserted Bayfront Night Bazaar; Predicts $10K Loss

The Singapore National Day Food Festival at Bayfront Event Space may boast carnival rides, nostalgic snacks and a prime location beside Marina Bay Sands, but for some stall vendors, it’s been more a nightmare than celebration.

The co-owner of Kwazy Korndog, Hazel Chen, 28, recently posted a TikTok video about their struggles at the event, revealing that they’re on track to lose a hefty sum during the 16-day bazaar which started on July 26 and ends on August 10. We are on the verge of losing $10K. We need your help,” she pleaded.

Positioned as a "large-scale pasar malam", the event serves up local snacks, international cuisine and fusion dishes alongside “Uncle Ringo's amusement rides”.

$500 daily rent

With rent at $500 per day, not including other costs like manpower and electricity, the math is brutal. The vendor isn't alone in their struggles. When they asked fellow stall operators about their sales, the responses were equally disheartening. "Only two," replied a neighbouring vendor. "We sold one bag," said another.
