KFC Mala Chicken Taste Test: Nice or Not?
We tell you if you should brace yourself for the burn.
Mala is everywhere now. You can get a mala version of practically anything, from hotpot to stir-fry and now… fried chicken. KFC just dropped its limited-edition Mala Chicken today. It features the fast food chain’s house-made Sichuan mala sauce drizzled over their signature crispy fried chook.
Originating from Sichuan, China, mala’s name means “numb and spicy” in Chinese. Mala sauce is traditionally made with Sichuan peppercorns and chilli peppers simmered in oil, and is meant to be so spicy, your mouth goes numb after eating it (hence, ‘mala’).
