Now Available in SG: 1-Michelin-Starred Bangkok Stall Jay Fai’s Nongshim Instant Noodles Collab

The street food stall is famous for its crab omelette, eight-hour wait for a table and its goggles-wearing hawker-owner, who partners the Korean instant noodle brand to launch dry and soup tom yum flavours.

Many have described Bangkok street food stall Raan Jay Fai as “legendary” — the Thai roadside eatery boasts one Michelin star for seven years running, and is well-known for its hearty, charcoal wok-fried dishes like crab omelette.

In a promotional video for Nongshim Thailand, Jay Fai can also be seen plugging her instant noodles, which bear her famous face on its packaging. She ends the video by proclaiming that her noodles are “aroi mak mak”, which most people would recognise as a popular Thai phrase which means “delicious”.

It’s available in Singapore now

But for folks in Singapore who aren’t travelling to Bangkok, you can now buy it here. Thai Supermarket, which shifted from Golden Mile Complex to Aperia Mall, announced yesterday (Dec 18) that it has brought in both flavours from the hot collab “in limited quantities”.

A Thai Supermarket rep tells 8days.sg that the noodles “went out of stock this morning”, though stocks are expected to be replenished in “one to two weeks’ time”. The local prices were not revealed, though in Bangkok a 5-packet bundle of the Stir-Fried flavour costs 60 baht (S$2.30), while the Tom Yum Soup flavour costs 65 baht (S$2.50).

We have also seen a few listings for these noodles on shopping platforms Shopee and Carousell, though we can’t vouch for their legitimacy.

How does it taste?

Some TikTokers like @jamseylau who have bought, cooked and tried the noodles noted that the Stir-Fried flavour was “very spicy” and nicer than the soup version.

Thai-born Blackpink member Lisa Manobal, who visited Jay Fai two days ago with her mum, also received a special box of Nongshim collab noodles from Supinya herself. Wonder which flavour she prefers?
