Great World City mall is currently undergoing a revamp to refresh its offerings, and with it comes 18 new tenants: this includes Japanese supermarket Meidi-Ya’s second outlet in Singapore, which opens today (June 27) at the mall’s Basement 2 level. Its first outlet is located at Liang Court along River Valley Road.

Interestingly, there’s also a huge Cold Storage supermarket just one floor above Meidi-Ya, which sounds like pretty fierce competition to us. “We don’t want to compete [with Cold Storage], that’s why we are focusing on more Japanese products,” Meidi-Ya’s managing director Nagoshi Shuji tells us.
