Japanese-French Bakery Sells Brown Sugar Bubble Tea & Mala-Flavoured Macarons

The meringue shells for both flavours of macarons are made from almond flour and egg whites, while the filling contains French butter and egg whites. However, this Brown Sugar Bubble Tea macaron has brown sugar milk tea essence added to its buttercream for that caramelly flavour we all know and love. But alas, no tapicoa pearls embedded within.

The Mala macaron’s cream filling is spiked with what you’d find in a typical bowl of mala soup: Sichuan peppercorn, dried chilli, garlic and ginger. Yikes!

Both the Brown Sugar Bubble Tea and Mala macarons are included in the Singapore Special macaron set ($5.90), which comes with two of each of these flavours: Brown Sugar Bubble Tea, Mala, and yet another trendy Singaporean flavour that may or may not be passé — Salted Egg.
