This Japanese Cafe At Bugis Has Instagrammable Pancakes, But Are They Good?

The pancakes here look like cartoon pancakes you’d find in anime shows: comically wobbly, fluffy and stacked like a tower. We couldn’t resist shaking our plate slightly to watch the pancakes jiggle. For a minimum order of four pieces, you only get a creamy, airy dollop of whipped butter on your pancakes and maple syrup, but you can add $1 for extra toppings like chocolate ice cream, adzuki red beans and buttercream. While our thick pancakes are deliciously fluffy, it somehow leaves a strangely tannic aftertaste. Four pieces make for a meal for one pax; eight pieces are only for folks who want that jiggly Boomerang pic.

Like the pancake version of an actual mille feuille, the plain meringue pancakes here are layered with cream, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, and topped with more cream. All that cream would have made these pancakes very jelak, but the tart berries cut through some of the richness. Yummy and decadent.
