Home-Based Baker Boasts His Choc Chip Cookie Is ‘Best You’ll Ever Have’, Says Customers Agree

Home-based bakeries are a dime a dozen. Said businesses claiming their confections are the best ever, well, those are less common. Enter four-month-old Cook’s Gourmet Cookies. Its brazen tagline “Probably the best cookie you’ll ever have” both intrigued and provoked the sceptic in us. However, confirmation from a food writer friend who tried them and reported that they were great, and the fact that chef Julien Royer of three-Michelin-starred Odette loved them after she gifted him a box, made us seek some out.

The man behind these chocolate chip cookies is 31-year-old Benjamin Wong, a self-taught cook who previously ran a private diner serving mod Asian cuisine in his four-room HDB flat

Ben opened his private diner Culantro Club last October, and tells 8days.sg that he decided to pivot to a cookie biz after receiving multiple requests from customers to sell his bakes. “I used to serve seven courses for every dinner, and the last course would be my signature chocolate chunk cookie. At each dinner, there was always one guest who asked me to sell it. That’s how my private diner branched out into me selling cookies instead,” he explains.
