High Demand For Durian Buffet Tours In Malaysia Led By MPs Like Jln Kayu’s Ng Chee Meng
Almost all the upcoming MP-led durian trips to JB or Malacca on this list — including those by Pritam Singh and Jamus Lim — are sold out.
With the General Elections behind them, our MPs are back to the daily grind. And apparently, this includes noshing on durians with their residents — at least during peak durian season from July to August. Politicians like PAP’s Ng Chee Meng, Workers’ Party’s Pritam Singh and Jamus Lim, are leading residents across the Causeway to Johor Bahru and Malacca to feast on the king of fruits.
The durian tours are so in demand, every single one is sold out — except for Paya Lebar’s MP Sylvia Lim’s upcoming trip (her second one this year due to popular response) on 2 August.
Here are seven MP-led durian tours to Malaysia this July and August.

Jalan Kayu MP Ng Chee Meng’s durian day trip to JB
Price: $110 per adult/child

After narrowly winning a seat in Jalan Kayu SMC at the recent General Elections, PAP MP and NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng will be leading his residents on a full-day foodie adventure to JB on 5 July 2025.
The tour starts bright and early at 5.30am, bringing residents from Fernvale CC to Johor Bahru. After breakfast, participants get to dig into an all-you-can-eat Mao Shan Wang durian buffet, alongside local fare like bee hoon, satay, and curry chicken. The group will then hit shopping stops at Toppen, IKEA, and Aeon, before winding down with an eight-course dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Although the tour is open to anyone in Singapore, priority is given to Jalan Kayu SMC residents and registrations are already closed at press time.
Eunos MP Pritam Singh’s durian day trip to JB

Eunos (part of Aljunied GRC) residents should know the drill. Their annual durian day trip to Yong Peng, Johor, with WP’s MP and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh, is back.
After missing out on last year’s trip for the first time in 11 years (he was attending a climate resilience conference in Kuala Lumpur), the tradition continues this weekend on 5 July 2025.
The itinerary includes an all-you-can-eat durian buffet lunch (durian cultivar unspecified), along with savoury favourites like nasi briyani and satay. Oddly, there’s also a stop at a brown rice shop, along with crowd-friendly activities like shopping at a mall, and a Chinese dinner to wrap up the day. Tickets are sold out, and we can’t say we’re surprised.
Anchorvale MP Jamus Lim’s durian day trip to JB
Price: $110 per adult; $95 child
This is WP MP Jamus Lim’s first time leading a durian day trip to Yong Peng on 26 July, for his Anchorvale (part of Sengkang GRC) residents. The slightly pricier itinerary is similar to Pritam’s, except the promotional poster clearly states that the durian lunch buffet includes the premium Musang King (Mao Shan Wang) cultivar at the durian lunch buffet.
What also differs from Pritam’s trip: a visit to a confectionery shop and a tea break. Tickets have been snapped up for this trip too.
Jurong Central MP Xie Yao Quan’s 2-day durian trip to Malacca
Price: from $250 per adult
Fresh off securing the single seat in Jurong Central SMC, PAP MP Xie Yao Quan is taking community bonding to the next level — with a 2D1N getaway to Malacca. Happening from 12 to 13 July, the trip includes more than just durians and shopping. It’s almost a full-on mini holiday. Residents can look forward to a city tour, river cruise, visits to the Baba Museum, St Paul’s Church and temples, along with meals at Malaccan eateries. Day two starts with breakfast at the hotel in Malacca, but the rest of the day unfolds in Johor — with a “MS King durian feast with some light food” in Tangkak, shopping in JB, and dinner at a local restaurant.
WP’s Sylvia Lim is also joining in on the fun across the border with Paya Lebar (Aljunied GRC) residents for a durian escapade. Happening on 12 July, the itinerary mirrors that of Pritam’s: a durian buffet lunch (the premium MSW variety is specified here), shopping stops, and a Chinese dinner.
While the July day tour is already sold out, a second trip is scheduled for 2 August 2025, and registrations are now open (Whatsapp 9852 5901 for details). Interestingly, this trip is open to everyone — not just residents of Paya Lebar.
Yuhua MP Grace Fu’s 2-day durian trip to Malacca
Price: from $248 per adult
While highlights like a city tour, river cruise and Musang King durian feast are similar to Xie Yao Quan’s itinerary, other details of the trip are vague. Rates are at $298 for single rooms, $248 per pax for twin or triple ones. Tickets are sold out, too.
Bedok Reservoir-Punggol MP Gerald Giam’s durian day trip to JB
Price: $95 per adult; $88 child

Also hitting the road on 5 July: WP’s Gerald Giam will be accompanying a busload of his Bedok Reservoir-Punggol (Aljunied GRC) residents to Yong Peng for a full-day makan sesh. The itinerary is almost identical to the other WP MPs’ trips: durian buffet lunch with nasi briyani, satay and more, shopping stops at a brown rice shop and malls, plus a Chinese dinner.
While it’s unclear what type of durians are included in the buffet, we’re told participants can whack unlimited Mao Shan Wangs for an extra $10 per head. In any case, all slots have been snapped up.
