Gelato Messina & Baristart Coffee Join Forces For A Sweet Collab
Singapore’s dessert scene just got a fun new mash-up. From 23 October to 6 November, Gelato Messina and Baristart Coffee Singapore are joining forces for a collaboration featuring gelato-stuffed choux pastry puffs and an exclusive affogato.

First collab in Singapore for Gelato Messina
Australia’s cult favourite Gelato Messina made its Singapore debut earlier this year with a flagship outlet on Club Street, quickly drawing snaking queues for its creamy, inventive flavours.
Baristart brings Japan’s coffee and cream puffs into the mix
Baristart Coffee started in Hokkaido, Japan in 2015 and landed in Singapore four years later. It’s famous for its Hokkaido cream puffs filled with Biei Jersey milk custard cream, and for bringing a part of Japan’s coffee culture — and famous dairy — to local shores.
The café isn’t new to collaborations either. In 2023, it teamed up with Swiss chocolatier Läderach for limited-edition choc cream puffs. This time, it’s venturing into frozen territory with Gelato Messina to give its signature pastries a cool twist.
Gelato Puffs, $11.80 each
The limited-edition gelato puffs feature Baristart’s airy choux pastry filled with three Messina gelato flavours: Pistachio Praline Puff, fior di latte gelato layered with pistachio fudge, white chocolate bits and roasted pistachios. Then there’s the Boysenberry Puff, featuring yoghurt-based gelato with poached boysenberry coulis. Lastly, there’s the Cookies & Cream Puff starring cocoa gelato folded with crunchy cookie bits.
Not your thing? Luckily, you can opt for your preferred flavour like the yummy kaya toast gelato instead — but only at Messina’s parlour.
The Gelato Puffs will be available at all Baristart Coffee and Gelato Messina outlets.
Macadamia Crunch Affogato, $11.80
This more grownup dessert involves a scoop of Messina’s macadamia gelato with caramelised white choc and crunchy nuts, drenched with Baristart’s house-blend espresso. Hot and cold, sweet and bitter, smooth and crispy. Sounds tempting. This is only available at Baristart Coffee outlets.
The gelato puffs are available from 23 Oct to 6 Nov at all Baristart Coffee outlets and Gelato Messina (1 Club St, S069400). The macadamia crunch affogato is available only at Baristart Coffee outlets, including the flagship branch at 65 Tras St, S079004.
