2 For $4.50 Fujiya Peko Milky Ice Cream Puffs Now Available In S’pore

Other than the candy, Fujiya had parlayed their popular mascot into a whole range of themed merchandise and food items, including fabulously rich milk soft serve that we once tried at its standalone store in Osaka.

Peko cream puffs now sold in Singapore

Given that milk is its main ingredient, it’s unsurprising that Fujiya has also launched “milk cream puffs” with an ice cream filling (which makes them profiteroles, we suppose). And it's now available in Singapore. We found the puffs at Don Don Donki’s freezer section, where they are available in two flavours: Strawberry and Milk Cream. Each puff costs $2.50, and there’s a promotion going on where you can get two puffs for $4.50.

One-year expiry date

We find it a little unsettling that these cream puffs have an expiry date that is... almost one year from now. But they are sold frozen, which prolongs their shelf life.

Taste test

We let the cream puffs thaw for a bit before we tried ’em. The choux puff shell is similar to the chilled cream puffs sold at Japanese patisserie chain Chateraise, which is to say it’s serviceable enough but slightly soggier than freshly-baked pastry.

In terms of flavour, it’s a far cry from Fujiya’s creative offerings in Japan, which extends to a “drinkable cream puff” where you are given a straw to stick into the puff and slurp up the viscous cream filling. But still a fun snack to try, like chiffon cake in a can.
