Aussie-Inspired Flourish Bakehouse Closing Cafe At Phoenix Park, But It’s “Not The End”
Shortly after opening its doors in Phoenix Park at Tanglin last October, Flourish Bakehouse made waves on social media for its rustic, Aussie-style bakes and chill green surrounds, complete with Insta-worthy touches like a pet-friendly lawn and picnic mats.
However, after slightly over a year, the charming cafe – opened by auditor-turned-baker Diane Ong, 30 – announced on social media that it would be moving out of its airy premises.

Flourish Bakehouse announces its temporary closure
The post on November 30 (below) read: “There’s no easy way to share this news. We are moving out and our last day to [the] public will be on 11 December 2022. It was an incredibly difficult decision and we’re gutted to be leaving such a beautiful space, but many factors including a short-term lease renewal led us to this decision.”
“Flourish has been home to some of the best memories and we’re so glad that we’ve been able to share the space and our passion for baking and coffee with you”.
“It has been an absolute privilege serving you and we are so thankful for this community who have cheered us on in so many ways”.
“Not the end” for the cafe
However, the announcement ended on a hopeful note: “Don’t worry, this is not the end of Flourish. We’ll be taking a little break and are actively looking for a new space. We will be posting updates on our social media platforms so stay connected with us to get the latest updates.”
When 8days.sg contacted Diane (pictured above), she reiterated: “We are still looking for a new space, depending on what’s available”. She added: “I’m getting married in February next year, so we will be taking a break till after the wedding” and declined to elaborate further. So you can expect Flourish Bakehouse to be on hiatus at least until then.
The University of Sydney alum baked as a way of relaxing after her day job as an auditor when she was based in Australia. She started selling mooncakes and bombolini from home after she was transferred to Singapore, which gave her the confidence to quit her job and invest $100K into opening Flourish Bakehouse on the first floor of special needs school The Guild International College in Phoenix Park.

Flourish Bakehouse’s last day of operations at Phoenix Park is on December 11, so you have about two weeks to get your hands on its bakes and sandwiches. According to a friend who frequents the cafe, there isn’t much of a crowd on weekdays outside of peak lunch hour, so that would probably be the best time to head down.
