You Can Now Get $3.90 HK-Style Frozen ‘Gai Daan Zai’ Eggette At Supermarkets
Gai daan zai craving at midnight? Just heat up your own.
Freshly-made bakery waffles are popular in Singapore, and gai daan zai is its Insta-worthy cousin from Hong Kong. It has its roots as a HK street snack, and gradually made its way here (local F&B company Fei Siong Group has a Hong Kong Egglet chain specialising in it).
The eggette is known for its bubble wrap-like appearance, each orb the size of a quail egg (its name means ‘little eggs’ in Cantonese). You’d need a special mould to make your own, or you can buy it frozen at local supermarkets, as 8days.sg has discovered.
