Curry Rice Bowls For Under $10
Japanese curry rice joint Ho Jiak offers super affordable curry bowls (so you can spend the extra dough on their craft beer).
Ho Jiak is a 32-seat joint opened by two Singaporean brothers. It serves hearty Japanese-inspired curry rice bowls, whiskies and craft beers. With affordable nett prices (hurrah, no GST or service charge!), the cafe aims to offer unpretentious, hearty delish food, hence the shop’s Hokkien moniker (ho jiak means ‘tasty’ in Hokkien). Choose from a variety of meats, such as the tender Oven-Roasted Chicken Leg ($7.90) and Pork Shoulder Shabu ($8.90) or the vegetarian-friendly Cold Tofu with Roasted Sesame Dressing ($7.90) on rice, all draped in a sweet Japanese-style curry. If you are really hungry, order the signature All-In Bowl ($14.90, see main pic) which combines chicken and shabu pork and beef.
