Earlier this year in March, you first heard it from 8days.sg that popular American chicken sandwich chain Chick-fil-A is considering a Singapore outlet.
The family-owned business has over 3,000 outlets in the States since opening in 1967, and reportedly has the third-largest domestic sales after Mcdonald’s and Starbucks.
A while back, the brand set up a head office here and posted a hiring notice for a head of training position.
All signs pointed to Singaporeans getting our own Chick-fil-A restaurant, as Chick-fil-A (Asia)’s Head of Asia Pacific, Hugh S. Park, tells 8days.sg that the company is “looking at several possible locations throughout Asia, including Singapore” to expand internationally.
Well, the plan for a permanent restaurant has yet to hatch. But good news: Chick-fil-A is holding a three-day pop-up here, from Jun 26 to 28, as a way to “introduce itself in Singapore" and bring its “signature hospitality and delicious food to Asia for the first time”.

What to expect
According to a press release, the pop-up is held at #01-13C Esplanade Mall, currently the location for an anime and games-themed cafe called Aniplus.
Over the three days, the pop-up will be open to the public from 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm.
But don’t expect the full Chick-fil-A lineup on the menu. The pop-up will serve only the chain’s most famous Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, which was created some 60 years ago by company founder S. Truett Cathy.
This sandwich comes with a “whole, freshly breaded, boneless breast of chicken with no added fillers, pressure cooked in fully-refined peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttery bun with two dill pickle chips”.
The meal is rounded off with waffle potato fries and your choice of Coca-Cola or bottled water.

Charity donation in lieu of meal payment
What is also interesting about this pop-up is that Chick-fil-A is not charging for their food.
Instead, customers will be asked to donate $10 to the Community Chest Fund, the philanthropic arm of the National Council of Social Service. On its end, Chick-fil-A (Asia) will match all donations dollar-for-dollar.
One hundred per cent of the donations from the pop-up will go towards the charity’s social service programmes and beneficiaries, which include children with special needs, youth-at-risk, adults with disabilities as well as families and senior citizens who need support.
A prompt for the $10 donation will be made at the point when you make your reservation via the pre-registration link on Instagram (so keep a lookout on the event’s page).
Chick-fil-A’s Singapore pop-up is happening from Jun 26-28, 11am-2pm & 3pm-7pm, at #01-13C The Esplanade Mall, 8 Raffles Ave, S039802. By reservation only. Pre-registration link will be updated via www.instagram.com/chickenandsmiles.
