It’s always a good day for bargain-hunting gourmands when a fine-dining chef partners a casual eatery to offer their cooking at more affordable prices.

Award-winning Malaysian chef Hafizzul Hashim, known for his refined take on Southeast Asian cuisine at Fiz, an upscale restaurant in Tanjong Pagar, is offering a selection of heirloom kampong dishes to the buffet line at Swensen’s Unlimited’s three outlets. This is to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa.

These days, Haffizul cooks in fine-dining circles (including stints in Europe and Japan at restaurants like celeb chef Marco Pierre White’s Mirabelle, and JG Tokyo by Jean-Georges Vongerichten) and has picked up several accolades along the way. Restaurant Fiz, which is under ABR Group Holdings (which also owns Swensen’s), earned a Michelin Green Star in 2024. The award recognises restaurants for their commitment to sustainability, from sourcing ingredients responsibly to reducing waste. The chef has also won the RAS Epicurean Star Award for Best Farm-to-Table Restaurant in 2025.
