Home chef Anon Foo (left in pic) wants to make home-cooked meals accessible. “Not many people get to eat home-cooked food nowadays,” he says as he pads to the living room of his rented apartment off Joo Chiat Road in fluffy bedroom slippers. “And when you dine outside, you just eat and go — there’s no [human] connection,” continues the youthful 38-year-old. With that in mind, Foo, his friend Duh Wang Ling (right in pic), 29, and another silent partner set up Jiak (“eat” in Hokkien), a private dining experience which they run from said apartment. “We didn’t start this because of the private dining trend,” he insists. “I work in F&B, and I don’t get to go home and eat often, even during Chinese New Year. So, I wanted to bring that experience back for people.”
