We get it: the promise of eternally-youthful, plump, smooth skin is hard to resist. So we’re not surprised that slurping up collagen-rich chicken soup has gotten so on-trend. It’s a tasty and botox-free way of investing in your youth. Plus, almost everyone loves soup. Still, with the pandemic raging on and queues at many restaurants like hotpot joints relentless, we’re glad for the convenient packaged collagen chicken soup options that let us whip up our own ready-to-drink collagen soup-based meals — whether its noodles, hotpot or porridge — in the comfort of home. Here are five options, listed in no particular order:

1. KEMONO ORGANIC CHICKEN COLLAGEN SOUP, $26.90/L
You’ve heard of their organic roast chickens, but did you know Kemono makes organic chicken collagen soup that’s ready to drink as well? It’s simmered with 100 percent natural, cage-free, certified organic birds, raised without antibiotics and hormones. It figures that if you’re sipping the pure essence of chicken, you’d want the starting point to be as clean and happy as possible. Organic meat, bones, and vegetables are simmered for 12 hours to extract all their flavour and natural goodness for a soulful sip. Take heart in the fact that this wholesome brew contains no preservatives, artificial flavourings or MSG. Simply heat up and enjoy as it is for a nourishing soup, pair with noodles for a quick meal, or use in an indulgent hotpot with the family.
Kemono has a "refer a friend" promotion, where you send a referral link to a pal and if they order something through that link — you both get a free packet of collagen soup each. More details here: https://www.kemono.com/refer-a-friend/
This option is known for being sold by Mediacorp artiste, Chantalle Ng, but it’s also apparently made from a “generations-old” recipe, and is cooked with hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken. The chook is boiled for over 10 hours without any artificial flavouring — only garlic, ginger, onions, and a little seasoning.
Joining the celebrity collagen soup offerings is this product sold by daughter of Jack Neo, Ethel Neo, which she dreamt up during the Circuit Breaker. You can find it at NTUC Finest supermarket, but it’s available for home delivery as well. The recipe is Ethel’s own, and involves boiling the chicken meat and bones for eight hours with only salt and ginger. It’s trans fat- and sugar-free, with no artificial flavourings and preservatives. It rolls in at $28 per litre, sold as two 500ml packs.
4. THE SOUP SPOON HOTPOT COLLAGEN CHICKEN SOUP, $9.20/500G
The popular Singaporean soup chain has waded into the collagen soup wars with its own version, boiled for a whopping 16 hours using only chicken bones, feet, and salt. It comes as a gelatinous block and is meant to be diluted with water to produce a soup.
Joo Hwa Food sells hotpot essentials online, so it makes sense they’d offer a soup base too. Theirs is dubbed “beauty soup” and is made with an impressive sounding mix of organic Japanese chicken bones and cage-free Malaysian chickens, though it also contains pork extract seasoning and sugar.
