$18 Wagyu Burger Or $120 Steak Dinner For Dad On Father's Day?
Two beefy options for differing budgets.

If you’re still figuring out where to treat pa this Sunday — here are two restaurants with beef-centric promotions for the occasion. (But there’s salmon, chicken and crab too if the man isn’t too keen on beef alone).

Firebake
This charming two-year-old bake house and restaurant at East Coast prides itself on its various wood oven baked sourdough bread (we love the fruit loaf stuffed with juicy apricots), plus also charcoal-grilled meat and seafood dishes.

Firebake Wagyu Cheeseburger, $18
Nothing beats a good ol’ cheeseburger and these folks know it. They've launched a Wagyu Cheese burger last week for brunch and lunch, but just for this Sunday (16 June only), pops can dig into this baby for dinner. House-made sourdough potato flour buns sandwich a thick charcoal-grilled Aussie wagyu beef patty, pickled onions and a double whammy of melted cheeses: cheddar plus Grana Padano (similar to Parmesan). A rich red Greek sauce called pastitsada, which comprises beef stock, wine, tomatoes and spices like paprika, cumin, bay leaf and nutmeg, adds savouriness to the creation. Unfortunately the burger doesn’t come with fries, but you can add on sides from $10, such as mashed potatoes with extra virgin olive oil.

One-for-one booze
To go with the burger is Firebake’s one-for-one a la carte drinks promotion on 16 June, which includes wine (a glass of house red or white starts from $12), beer (from $14 for a bottle of original pilsner) and soft drinks.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House x Brooks Brothers
Hailing from Louisiana is the elegant Ruth’s Chris Steak House that’s been quietly operating in Singapore for almost seven years. Its Midwestern beef, mostly from Nebraska and Illinois, is USDA Prime graded and wet aged. The cows are first fed with grass then switched to corn for a better flavour. For the month of June, the steakhouse is offering an exclusive dinner set menu in collaboration with classic menswear brand Brooks Brothers, where each order of the four-course meal entitles you to a $20 Brooks Brothers shopping voucher, a Ruth’s Chris Stress Cow toy and Ruth’s Chris Mardi Gras Beads.

Brooks Brothers x Ruth’s Chris Steak House Father’s Day Menu, $120 per pax
Start with your choice of either a Lobster Bisque, Caesar Salad or Crab Cakes. The latter is Ruth’s signature appetiser: sweet jumbo lump crab meat sizzled with butter and herbs.

The beef is served on a sizzling 500⁰F (260⁰C) plate
For the main course there’s either a tender, lean 8 oz (226g) Petite Filet Steak, a marbled 12 oz (340g) Prime Rib-Eye cut, or a 12 oz (340g) New York cut (pictured) from the shorter side of the beef loin. If fish is dad’s thing, there’s also Norwegian Salmon with Thai Chilli Butter Sauce, or Stuffed Chicken Breast filled with garlic herb cheese and served with lemon thyme butter. All mains come with a side dish, such as Creamed Spinach, Potatoes Au Gratin, Lyonnaise Potatoes or Grilled Asparagus.

Don't forget dessert
To top it all off, a Mini Cheesecake with Fresh Berries (a larger version is pictured above) ends the dinner on a sweet note.

Ruth's Tenderloin Rolls, $32
If you’re planning for lunch instead, Ruth’s Chris Steak House serves up the more affordable Australian Wagyu Burger ($32) and the Ruth’s Tenderloin Rolls ($32; pictured above) — both come with a side of fries. The Australian Wagyu Burger holds the usual minced beef patty at 8 oz (226 g), while the tenderloin sarnies comprise two mini buns, each stuffed with a piece of tenderloin weighing 2 oz (57g). Both are available for lunch daily.
