Fried Carrot Cake smothered in buah keluak and home-made sambal belacan. If it tastes anything like the buah keluak fried rice at the award-winning Candlenut restaurant — it's going to be awesome. Also on the menu: Valrhona Dark Chocolate Rojak with shrimp paste dressing, Tiger Beer-Battered Red Snapper and Baby Squid with Curry Mayonnaise, plus Ice Kacang with Goat's Milk Curd, peanut candy and gula melaka for dessert. That's just a sample of the dishes chef Malcolm Lee of mod Peranakan restaurant Candlenut and Willin Low of mod Sin eatery Wild Rocket, will serve this Friday and Saturday. The two celebrated chefs collaborate for the first time to serve tasty bites at this year’s Singapore Food Festival STREAT event, in a pop-up restaurant offering local fare with an edgy twist.
The seven-course mod-Sin and Peranakan Tok Panjang-Style Dinner ($50) by the duo will be served at a long communal table in a sheltered al fresco area with a view of Marina Bay.
If it's just specific dishes you're eyeing, simply tapow them a la carte at only $10 each.
Aside from this pop-up restaurant, there’s also a separate area dedicated to booths helmed by nine famous local food brands, such as New Ubin Seafood, Peranakan Khek, Whampoa Prawn Noodle, One Kueh At A Time and local cocktail guys Native x Sunday Punch — all curated by Willin and Malcolm. Order and enjoy your food at one of the tables scattered around the event space.
