Judging from the number of happy food posts (zi char at Keng Eng Kee Seafood was a fave) on Instagram and gyrating chefs on the dance floor at the after-party, Singapore threw one hell of a bash for the 18th edition of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards ceremony earlier this week. The glitzy black tie cocktail event was held at Marina Bay Sands — the first time the event was hosted in Asia. The list was created in 2002 by the UK-based Restaurant magazine. To say that it changed the fortunes of the listed chefs and their restaurants — as well as their home countries henceforth earmarked as foodie destinations — is an understatement.
