Posh European Food for Under $7? You Better Believe It
The former co-founder of casual French restaurant chain Saveur opens a new hawker stall offering mod European food.
The two co-founders of affordable French restaurant chain Saveur, chefs Joshua Khoo and Dylan Ong, have sold their shares to their silent partner last month, but they are still in the business of providing wallet-friendly food. Chef Joshua Khoo has since set up this hawker stall selling mod European fare, with the most expensive main dish ringing in at $7 (Saveur’s mains start from $11.90). There’s a Sake Butter Clam Pasta ($6) and Diced Prawns with Chorizo Sausage Flavour Rice ($7). The ‘flavour rice’ here is seasoned with diced onions, butter and bay leaves. At these prices, you can’t expect fancy plating, though. Food is served in plastic bowls. While Joshua went back to his hawker roots (Saveur started out as a hawker stall), his former partner Dylan went the casual restaurant route.
