Is McDonald’s Limited-Edition Red Bean Pie A Good Replacement For Its Sold-Out Chocolate One?

Will the red bean pie — now at a special promo price of $1 at most McDonald's outlets — appease the choc-deprived crowds?

Is McDonald’s Limited-Edition Red Bean Pie A Good Replacement For Its Sold-Out Chocolate One?

It’s National Pi Day today ('cos 3.14, geddit?), so we have good reason to, er, indulge in pie. First, some sad news: McDonald's viral Chocolate Pie is now sold out islandwide due to overwhelming demand. The fast food chain says: "As it is a promotional item, it won't be coming back anytime soon". To soothe sad souls, the brand has offered a promotional price of $1 for its classic Apple Pie and also its Red Bean Pie (original price from $1.20), the latter a limited-edition item that was recently relaunched again after being occasionally available in Singapore. It has a similar pastry to the eatery's classic apple version, except stuffed with a mildly sweet but somehow still bland mush studded with a few listless red beans. Nope, not a worthy replacement for the popular choc pie — so we'll just stick to the brand's reliably comforting apple pie. And perhaps a hot fudge sundae.

Available at McDonald’s outlets islandwide ($1 promo price offered at most branches, while stocks last). www.mcdonalds.com.sg.
