How To Get Babi Guling & Bebek Goreng From Bali Delivered To Your Doorstep

Both Indonesian-style whole roast pig places in Bali are — or were — popular tourist spots. The latter was visited by the late Anthony Bourdain in the show No Reservations. A friend ordered an air-delivered set meal from Pak Malen ($18; feeds two pax), which comes with slices of crisp-skinned roast pork, pork satay and stir-fried pork (rice not provided). She reported it was still pretty tasty, albeit dryer after warming it in the oven versus eating it fresh in Bali, of course.

Warung Eropa touts itself as the “finest crispy duck in Bali”. Indeed, the Seminyak bebek goreng (fried duck) restaurant, which serves both traditional Balinese cuisine as well as French ones (its owner learned how to cook in France) is well-loved among many visitors to the island. A pal recently ordered the crispy duck ($30) via Padasuka Indo Food and declared it “super tender and flavourful, almost as yummy as when I had it in Bali — but I didn’t reheat it properly so the skin wasn’t as crispy”.

Established in 2009 in Seminyak, Bali, Wahaha specialises in pork ribs marinated in Balinese spices and herbs, then glazed with a special barbecue sauce. The ribs are priced at $38 (for 450g) and is good for one or two pax. To heat it up, simply pop into the oven till hot.

This chain of restaurants from Jakarta serves up a variety of nasi padang dishes. You have six options that includes ayam goreng ($20 for four pcs) – fried chicken marinated with spices and herbs such as turmeric, lemongrass and bay leaves. Don’t want chicken? There’s also rendang sapi ($30 for six pcs), aka beef rendang. To reheat your fried chicken, defrost it to room temperature before frying it till crisp. For the other dishes, simply defrost them to room temperature and steam for around 10 minutes.

Aside from all the meaty options, there are also noodles. According to Padasuka Indo Food’s website, this noodle shop in Jakarta has been serving noodles for three generations using a traditional recipe. There are two variations of noodles available ($8 each) — either topped with kampong chicken slices or diced pork. You’ll have to cook the raw noodles first before mixing ’em with the seasoning and toppings provided and you’re good to go.
