Chilli Crab is one of Singapore’s most iconic dishes — but it is a special-occasion kinda treat for everyday Joes, especially since Sri Lankan crabs have become increasingly pricey these days. However, Muslim-owned home-based business Killa Krab is offering a more affordable version of the dish in trendily packaged, conveniently portioned cartons.

The biz was started by childhood friends Danial Azroy (right in pic), and Hasyim “Syimmy” Hasbullah, both 32, while dealing with the economic fallout from Covid-19. Danial is a flight attendant with Finnair while Syimmy is a wedding planner. Both of their industries are badly affected by the pandemic. While furloughed and working part-time as a Safe Distancing Ambassador and Dormitory Operator respectively, they were inspired to start a business that not only helped themselves, but their struggling circle of friends as well.
