Japanese discount chain Don Don Donki has been aggressively expanding in Singapore since it opened its first store on our shores at Orchard Central, less than two years ago in late 2017.
It has since set up another two outlets, in Tanjong Pagar’s 100AM mall and City Square mall in the Little India neighbourhood, offering its cheap, cheerful and sometimes kitschy products. Its upcoming fourth outlet will be in Novena’s Square 2 mall, which is connected to Novena MRT station. According to its hoarding, the store will open in May 2019.
The new outlet takes over the sprawling space previously occupied by electronics store Harvey Norman. And according to Harvey Norman’s old Square 2 address, Don Don Donki Novena is set to take over units #B1-06 to 75. That’s a lot of fun, affordable snacks — which we have no doubt the new store will stock — for you to go gaga over.
Channel NewsAsia previously reported that Don Don Donki plans to have 10 stores here by 2020, with five slated to open in 2019 alone. Which means… after the fourth Novena outlet, there will be one more Don Don Donki outlet coming soon in 2019. The Straits Times have reported that the fifth outlet will be located at Changi Airport's Terminal 3, and is slated to open this June. It will, however, not be a massive shopping wonderland like Don Don Donki’s other Singapore outlets; it's only 30 sq m, which is about the same size as a one-room HDB flat.
Prepare your wallets.
Don Don Donki’s upcoming Novena outlet opens in May at #B1-06 to 75 Square 2, 10 Sinaran Dr, S307506, and the Changi Airport Terminal 3 outlet will open in June. Opening hours to be confirmed. www.facebook.com/donkisg.
