The annual Michelin Guide Singapore Bib Gourmand’s 2019 list was unveiled this morning, and there are 12 new entrants for budget-savvy foodies to check out.

While the Guide doesn’t confer prestigious stars on the eateries in the Bib Gourmand category, it recommends "restaurants and street food establishments offering quality cuisine at a maximum price of S$45” per head. Which means you can try nosh that has impressed the Michelin inspectors without having to burn a hole in your wallet for the fine-dining fare that typically make up the bulk of the Michelin star recipients.

The 2019 Singapore guide winners will be announced a week later on September 17 at a gala event at Capella Singapore.

This year, a total of 58 F&B establishments have been included (eight more than last year’s) for the fourth Singapore edition of the Michelin Guide.

39 are hawker stalls and "street food" joints (casual eateries that are not located in a hawker centre) and 19 are restaurants, up two more from last year’s list.

The 12 new Bib Gourmand entrants are: Anglo Indian at Shenton Way, Beach Road Fish Head Bee Hoon at Whampoa Makan Place, Bedok Chwee Kueh and Hock Hai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle at Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre, Chef Kang’s Noodle House, Chen’s Mapo Tofu, carrot cake stall Fu Ming Cooked Food at Redhill Food Centre, Guan Kee Fried Kway Teow at Ghim Moh Market and Food Centre, Indocafe – The White House, Koh Brother Pig’s Organ Soup at Tiong Bahru Market and kway chap stall To-Ricos Guo Shi Old Airport Road Food Centre. Halal Malay-Indonesian restaurant Hjh Maimunah, located in Joo Chiat, makes a return to this list (it was in the inaugural 2016 Bib Gourmand lineup but fell off in 2017).
