$12 Cocktails For The Bargain-Hunting Lush

Drink in a financially responsible way at the SINGAPORE COCKTAIL FESTIVAL 2017, where all cocktails go for $12 each. (A version of this story first appeared in Issue 1377, Mar 9, 2017.)

$12 Cocktails For The Bargain-Hunting Lush

One of the happiest places on earth must be the six-day Singapore Cocktail Festival Village (Mar 16-21), where international and local bartenders shake and stir 50 one-of-a-kind creative cocktails at a wallet-friendly price of 12 bucks in “immersive cocktail experience rooms”. The event is held at the old Beach Road Police Station and its surrounding grounds — quaint! Sample the savoury Lion City Sour ($12) from 28 HongKong Street, which combines tequila with chicken rice chilli. There is also a “food street” where restaurants like Ninja Bowl and The Disgruntled Brasserie will serve nosh like the Escargot Tarte Flambee ($15). If you can’t make it to the Village, visit the 45 participating bars island-wide offering specially-priced drinks such as the Miss Baker Collins ($10) with carbonated Monkey 47 dry gin and grapefruit soda from Singapore Marriott hotel’s cocktail bar The Other Room, and an Uncle Negroni ($14; see main pic) with red date-infused Dutch gin and vermouth from the bar at mod Cantonese restaurant, Mitzo.

Singapore Cocktail Festival, Mar 16-21, 99 Beach Rd, S189701 (festival village) and participating bars island-wide. More info at www.singaporecocktailfestival.com
