Audemars Piguet Opens World's First AP Cafe In S'pore, Run by Burnt Ends

Watch enthusiasts, you now have an exciting new destination in Singapore to check out. Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet has opened AP House in the city’s historic Raffles Hotel, which also features the world’s first AP Cafe.

So, what exactly is AP House? It is an experiential concept space first introduced by the brand in 2017 as a way to redefine the traditional luxury retail experience. Nestled within Raffles Hotel’s iconic Bar and Billiard Room, this 1,000sqm space aims to transport visitors into the world of Audemars Piguet.

Located in cities across the globe such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and Tokyo, these venues are designed to be a cosy home away from home, where clients and horology lovers can delve into the brand’s history, craftsmanship and watches. The Singapore outpost is the 22nd AP House to open its doors and is Southeast Asia’s flagship destination.

Space with a history

Paying homage to the space in which it occupies, AP House Singapore holds many enthralling stories from the history of the Bar and Billiard Room. First opened in 1896 as Raffles Hotel's distinguished social hub for the elite, the Bar and Billiard Room continues to stand today as a treasured heritage building. Over the decades, it evolved into a dining destination, most recently housing Italian restaurant Osteria BBR by Alain Ducasse, which shuttered in 2024.

If the tiger rug beneath the billiard table catches your eye, it comes with a fascinating story. Legend has it that in 1902, a tiger escaped from a circus at the far end of Beach Road, where Raffles Hotel is located, and sought refuge for the night under the Bar & Billiard Room before being discovered. While the tiger did eventually meet a tragic end, this legendary story has been immortalised in the alluring design of the rug.
