Young Hawkers Bring Popular Green Curry Tornado Omelette Rice From Malaysia To S’pore Kopitiams

After trying the viral Thai-style runny egg rice from new stall Running Egg, 8days.sg has discovered yet another IG-worthy egg and rice pairing. At Malaysian hawker chain Ryotai, you’ll find pretty omurice-inspired plates served with pale green curry that the owners say is a fun blend of Japanese and Thai green curry.

Ryotai was first opened in Malaysia in October 2023 by a former Japanese fine-dining  restaurant chef. Since then, the brand has expanded to 32 outlets in JB, KL and Selangor. Seeing its success across the border, young hawkers Chee Keh Keng, 25, Lui Yi Wei, 25, and Tey Ming Zhen, 31 – all of whom are Malaysia-born Singaporean PRs – decided to franchise it in Singapore.
