Addictive $1.50 Chicken Wings At New Stall By Hawker Behind Popular Tony Cafe

Can’t get enough of fried chicken wings? Try the simply named Wings, a hawker stall that opened last August within a nondescript canteen beside Mapletree Business City at Alexandra. Just look for the signage with a cute dabbing chicken.

Wings is run by Larry Gan, 50, who’s no greenhorn to the F&B biz: once an interior designer, the reticent towkay quit his day job about a decade ago to take over the running of Tony Cafe, a humble standalone mixed rice eatery in The Adelphi shopping mall at City Hall, with his sister Sherley. His parents had been running the cult fave joint since 2002, and they retired after their kids took over.

Two of Tony Cafe’s most popular items are the deep-fried chicken wing rice and honey wings – which Larry cooked the last ten years. It’s why he chose to expand the brand around chicken wings as a way of bringing their hit dishes out of the CBD and into the suburbs.
